Born to a legacy of diamonds spanning three generations, Mr. Akshay Poddar – Director of SBJ - was brought up in Kolkata. He was introduced early into the family business, formerly known as A.P.Jewellers with the showroom at Camac Street, Kolkata. With a Diamantaire father Mr. Arun Poddar and Designer enthusiast mother Mrs. Meena Poddar, he imbibed the best of both worlds - Jewellery and Art. Mr. Akshay travelled across the country from the age of ten - participating in National level trade fairs, jewellery shows and exhibitions such as IIJS, ZAK, Bride & Groom, Bridal Asia, Vivaah - observing and imbibing skills from the jewellery market. Eventually, he was dawned with the desire to innovate and offer exceptional jewels with designs that transcended borders and are finished with utmost precision.

Mr. Akshay studied Bachelor of Commerce from St. Xavier’s College ( Kolkata ). He holds a Graduate Gemologist diploma from Gemological Institute of America (GIA). He is also the Charter President of GIA Kolkata Association for 2 continuining years till date. ShyamBhajo Jewellers has received several prestigious National awards and Mr. Akshay has been a Guest Speaker at various shows and his testimonials are widely followed by the industry enthusiasts across the world.
